Off-Campus Summer Classes and Programs

The College of Natural Science makes important science, math and statistics courses available where MSU students are home for the summer.

Off-Campus Locations:

In Southeast Michigan, courses are held in facilities around Oakland and Macomb counties and south towards Ann Arbor. Locations include the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at Macomb University Center, Birmingham, Farmington, and St Joseph-Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

West Michigan classes are at the MSU College of Human Medicine in downtown Grand Rapids and the MSU Bioeconomy Institute in Holland.

Course Schedule:

Off-campus courses are all posted online in the MSU Schedule of Courses. Search by subject and select the “Off Campus” option for the location. Carefully read the section descriptions for directions and unique course expectations or dates.

List of Courses:

All current year NatSci off-campus courses are posted below and updated in January.

Off-Campus/Online Science

Great summer options in Southeast Michigan or West Michigan/Grand Rapids! Do most of your lectures and homework online — then meet one night/week for case problems, discussion and secure exams. Fits your summer schedule and you meet a live MSU teacher and other students.

Internships

The Department of Zoology is expanding internship options for all biological science majors. The internships are 4 credits, full time (40 hours/week) and available in fall or spring semesters (17 weeks) or summer (14 weeks). See their website for specific details.

Program Costs & Financial Aid

Cost to enroll in Off-campus courses is based on the individual student’s tuition status; same as student would pay to enroll in the same course on campus.

Information on financial aid is available from the MSU Office of Financial Aid http://www.finaid.msu.edu/

Some internships offer stipends, others may provide assistance with housing or meals. Details are available through Zoology contacts or through inquiry to specific host organizations.

Application Process & Resources

Off-Campus Courses: For information about off-campus sites, enrollment and registration, go to the MSU Summer Study website. Guest students apply through MSU Lifelong Education.

Internships: Depending on the internship, students are required to prepare an appropriate application/resume, interview and be accepted via the host organization’s hiring process. Department of Zoology internship coordinators train and assist students with this process.
